Five years ago we showcased a group of seven emerging artists in an exhibition called Sculpting Talent. In this new exhibition, we turn the spotlight back on the original seven artists whose work we believe continues to be at the forefront of modern Inuit art. Far from disappearing, we believe that the art of this new generation is gaining momentum and continuing to grow and evolve, while remaining deeply tied to the uniquely resourceful spirit that permeates the Arctic.
We invite you to join us in turning a fresh eye to Inuit art and to view the works included in this collection from a fresh perspective, devoid of any preconceived expectations of what Inuit art should look like. The generation of artists represented here provides a refreshing view of their culture, both from a look back at what used to be, and forward to embrace the changes that life in the 21st century has brought to the Arctic communities where they live and work.
Their experiences are reflected in the artwork they create and it is this unique perspective that continues to fascinate art collectors throughout the world.
