Generations
June 26 - July 17
The Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art has played a pivotal role in nurturing a new generation of artists while strengthening the artistic traditions of the Northwest Coast. Named after renowned Haida artist Freda Diesing, the school was founded by Dempsey Bob, Stan Bevan, and Ken McNeil, on the principles of cultural preservation, artistic excellence, and mentorship, creating a space where traditional knowledge and contemporary creativity flourish side by side.
Our latest collection, Generations, brings together artists connected to the school as current students, alumni, instructors, and mentors. Their works reflect the rich exchange of knowledge that takes place within the school's community, where established artists guide emerging artists, and each generation contributes to the continued evolution of Northwest Coast art.
Together, Generations celebrates the enduring power of mentorship and cultural continuity. While each artist brings a unique perspective and voice, they are united by a shared commitment to Northwest Coast artistic traditions and by the lasting influence of one of the most important Indigenous art institutions.
