Jewelry Collection 2022
November 18 - December 24
We’re excited to share this year’s jewelry collection with you! This year we have included contemporary works by gallery favourite artists, one artist new to the gallery and three special works by two of the Northwest Coast's most illustrious artists.
Among the contemporary pieces in this collection, we are featuring beautiful new Northwest Coast works by outstanding jeweler Hollie Bear Bartlett, uniquely constructed pieces by Morgan Asoyuf and delicate designs from Grant Pauls and Allyson Simmie. Inuit artist Sandy Maniapik of Pangnirtung created charming stud earrings in antler, while Lavinia Van Heuvelen was inspired by her Inuit heritage to create minimalist silver amauti shaped earrings and an ulu pendant.
New to the gallery this year is the incredible bead work by Yukon based, Northern Tutchone and Tlingit artist Kaylyn Baker. She is known for her her dazzling colour choices and bold designs. We’re delighted to have her work included in this collection.
We are also thrilled to share with you two spectacular bracelets in silver by the late, renowned Nisga’a artist, Norman Tait. The bracelets illustrate his interest in exploring and pushing the limits of the material in both constructing and overlaying silver.
Finally, we feature a remarkable gold bracelet from the mid 1950's by iconic Haida artist Bill Reid. The piece has been worn and loved by it’s various owners over the years and we are fortunate to have the complete provenance for the piece from it’s first owner through to today. Bill Reid believed that his jewelry should be worn and enjoyed, not locked away, held for an important occasion someday. We invite you to do the same with the wonderful works in this collection.
