Leah Pipe isolates the images of animals on her canvases, allowing the focus to be placed on the figures so that we can delight in her skillful painting. Her current collection, Deeper into the Forest, is a series of nine small format paintings. Each one is accompanied by a poetic description and a reflection on the lessons we can take from them. For example her painting, The Fledgling, shows a young raven with its head tilted curiously towards the viewer, and Leah urges us to embrace growth and to explore the world. In the Forest King, she speaks of the bear’s strength, love of family and protective nature, and urges us to emerge from a period of isolation.
