Feather + Bone
Over the past year we've been delighted by Leah Pipe's images of ravens swooping across solid fields of white canvas or the depiction of a raven, head turned as its attention is caught by something outside the viewer's vision, feathers ruffled by a light wind, and sunlight catching the colours that hide within the black sheen of its feathers. In this new collection of paintings Leah has turned her considerable talents to capturing the subtleties of fragility and strength inherent in single feathers, antlers and bones.
In her words:
"These paintings honour the inherent beauty of feathers + antlers and celebrate their contradictory aspects. Soft vs. Strong. Fragile vs. Sturdy. Despite these opposites, feathers + antlers are extraordinarily similar. They are both, in fact, strong and soft at the same time. They are both fragile, yet sturdy.
