Leah Pipe - Greet The Sky
This collection of paintings celebrates home as a sanctuary, a safe place for us to rest and regroup. Whatever home represents for each of us – a family home, a cabin, an apartment – for our feathered or furry friends, at tree branch, a nest, a den dug deep against tree roots.
These paintings also speak to connection – to each other, to ourselves, to our families and friends and/or to our communities. “Meet Me By the Edge of the Forest” is a friend asking us to meet them, join forces, share stories and slip into the safety of the forest. “Safe and Sound” a white Raven hides in the deep thick of the woods, protected from the cold winds by west coast timbers . “Waiting for Night to Fall” a little Barred Owl waits for daylight to fade to darkness, when it's friends come out to visit, hunt and band together.
My hope is that these creatures bring you messages of hope. They are a response to the past few years of pandemic chaos, stress, delays... the new normal of abnormal. Painting these little images gave me peaceful moments and a reassurance that we're going to be ok. No matter what is happening in our individual lives and the global community, we always have the Sky. We have the birds and wolves who will guide us home. - Leah Pipe
