Spirited: The Levo Collection
October 14 - November 3
Fred Levo, a devoted patron of Inuit art, has dedicated years to the study and appreciation of Inuit artistic expressions. His collection, gathered over decades of careful curation, reflects his respect for the spiritual traditions of the Inuit and their unique artistic interpretations of shamanism and transformation.
What distinguishes Fred Levo's collection is its extraordinary diversity and the uniqueness of each sculpture. Levo targeted small, well carved works made by well-known artists and as a result his collection features wonderful works by Oviloo Tunnillie, Barnabus Arnasungaaq, Josiah Nuilaalik, Joy Hallauk and many others. From a four-inch-tall Drumming Muskox with a hidden face by David Arnasungaaq to the enigmatic transformative carvings of Jutai Toonoo, Levo's collection is a testament to the immense creative breadth and ingenuity of Inuit artists.
Join us October 14th for an opening reception as Levo shares stories behind his cherished collection.
