The late Kananginak Pootoogook was long celebrated for his drawings depicting the life in and around CapeDorset.  One of his favourite subjects were the birds to be found in the region of Southwest Baffin Island.  Some birds wintered in the Arctic but spring found a huge influx of many varieties so as spring establishes its hold in the northern hemisphere (perhaps a bit too slowly in some regions) it seems a timely point at which to present this selection of finely rendered ink and coloured pencil drawings from the deft hand of this great master.  Most of these date from the period 1996 to 1998 and are filled with his characteristic flair for dynamic imagery and colour.
