13. Butterfly

The Butterfly is the companion and aid of Raven, the Great Trickster. Butterfly acts as a scout for Raven and often leads him to food or uncovers secrets on Raven’s behalf. Legend tells the story of how the Butterfly came to the aid of the elderly Numis, a human who became trapped at the top of a mountain when the land flooded. Butterfly, seeing Numis’ distress, brought food and water to the man until the flood finally subsided.
