(1968 – Present)

Louie is the son of renowned carver Tuna Iquliq. He was adopted by Baker Lake-based carvers Yvonne Kanayuq Arnakyuinak and Paul Arnakyuinak, and continues to reside in the Baker Lake region where he carves in the area’s distinctive hard, black stone. Louie prefers creating figurative pieces, such as mother and child sculptures, which he treats with sensitivity and often includes subtle details that suggest the intimacy and close emotional bond between the figures.
