(1981 – Present)

Cie is an up-and-coming Cape Dorset artist who first began carving at the young age of 15. The grandson of well-known carvers Kiawak Ashoona (RCA) and Osuitok Ipeelie, Cie works in the region’s local serpentine stone. This soft stone allows him to experiment with novel forms and new interpretations of traditional Inuit imagery. Cie’s preferred subjects include animal and human themes as well as shamanic, transformational imagery.
