Joamie Aipeelee (Ipellie), is a third-generation carver, and the son of celebrated Iqaluit artist Seepee Ipellie and the grandson of carver Nuveeya Ipellie. Born and raised in Iqaluit, Joamie’s preferred subjects include local birds, sea mammals, and the sturdy muskox that captivated both his father and grandfather as evidence through their work. Joamie’s work has been displayed both domestically and internationally since 1995, when he was first included in the New York exhibition, “Three Inuit Artists: Grandfather, Father, and Son Arctic Artistry.”
