The daughter of celebrated artists Kaka Ashoona and Mayoreak Ashoona, Ningeosiak Ashoona began carving in 1988. Her brothers, Ohito Ashoona and Otookie Ashoona, are also stone carvers while her sister, Siassie Kenneally, is a noted graphic artist. Ningeosiak has exhibited since 2005, when her work was first displayed in an exhibition dedicated to exploring Arctic Miniatures held at the Albers Gallery of Inuit Art in San Francisco, California. Ningeosiak is one of the few female carvers working today. Over the years, she has continued to produce detailed and delicately formed small-scale sculptures of Arctic animals.
