(1961 – Present)

Pavinaq Petalaulassie was born in 1961 to the late Aggeak Petaulassie, a first-generation Cape Dorset carver. His mother, Timangiak, was also a carver as well as a distinguished graphic artist. Pavinaq began carving in the early seventies, undoubtedly inspired by watching both of his parents work. Pavinaq is particularly known for his group compositions of birds, walruses, and bears. His brothers, Qatsiya and Etidloie, are also artists based in Cape Dorset.
