The originals for these prints were created by ink/rubbing an actual steelhead salmon, trapped in a gill net. Inspired by the traditional Japanese art form Gyotaku of fish printing. India ink captured incredibly intricate details from the scale patterns to the cheek plate, fins and eye sockets. This was an exciting art process of painting the salmon and using different paper stocks as print surfaces.
