(1980 - Present)

John Brent Bennett was born on June 25th, 1980 in Masset, Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands). His mother, Joyce Bennett is a well-known clothing designer, and his uncle is the acclaimed Haida artist Robert Davidson. John attended the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, located in Vancouver, and graduated in 2003. For his final project, John carved a 12-foot totem pole. He then continued his education at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, where he obtained his Masters in Fine Arts with a specialization in printmaking.

John has since collaborated on a number of projects with his mother. In 2010, his prints were featured in an exhibition held at the Bill Reid Gallery in Vancouver, B.C. Today John splits his time between Masset and the Lower Mainland, where he lives with his wife and daughter. He continues to practice and explore the visual possibilities of his Haida heritage, combining them with his experiences as a contemporary artist.
