(Haida)

Haida weaver Isabel Brillon was born and raised in Skidegate, located on Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands). A member of the Eagle clan, Isabel was raised by her mother, Elizabeth Collinson, and her grandfather, Henry Young, a Haida historian and carver. Isabel learned the art of traditional Haida weaving from Grace Wilson and her cousin, Gladys Vandal. She harvests her own red and yellow cedar bark and embraces largely traditional forms in her work.
