The idea to place a drummer on top of an inukshuk stemmed from a trip Kuzy took to Baker Lake seven years ago. While Kuzy was there he met with his friend and performing artist Nelson Tagoona. Nelson had asked Kuzy if he could carve a large inukshuk to be placed on stage with him during his performance but unfortunately the idea never came to fruition.

Later, Kuzy had the idea to place a performing drum dancer on a stage made entirely from an inukshuk and created this piece. This sculpture represents the connection between the land and the people as both drum dancing and the creation of inuksuit date back hundreds of years and remain integral parts of Inuit culture.

Kuzy did not grow up drum dancing but has since learned and has performed in a number of different Arctic communities, including Rankin Inlet and Coral Harbour.
